ABOUT LEAD

LEAD, the soft grey metal, is perhaps the most misunderstood metal of our times. It is so intimately woven into modern living that without it the world we live in will come to a virtual standstill. Each day, millions of people rely on it to generate the vital spark to get moving. Millions more depend on it to communicate at the speed of light. At home, lead has made it possible for us to enjoy the pleasures of watching television or simply listening to high fidelity music from our audio equipment.

In fact, lead is so important to us that it is perhaps the world's fifth most used metal. Despite its importance, lead is toxic and can cause adverse health effects if ingested or absorbed into the bloodstream. However, industry initiatives, legislation, better education and proper handling have greatly reduced the risks associated with lead exposure.

In Malaysia, Metal Reclamation operates a lead recycling facility. This facility has removed from the environment millions of lead-acid batteries which would have otherwise been improperly disposed of, thus endangering the environment we live in. This is our greatest contribution to the protection of nature .....

After all, recycling
protects the environment.
